Artifacts from an Unborn Empire
Exhibition Opening Reception
Saturday, September 26
7:00pm - 9:00pm
Brand Library & Art Center invites you to join us for a reception celebrating the opening of the new art exhibition, 'Artifacts from an Unborn Empire.'
Brand Library & Art Center is pleased to present Artifacts from an Unborn Empire. This exhibition gathers artists to reconsider how civilizations are formed and who gets to define them. Through a range of natural and manufactured materials, they play with and challenge the systems, stories, and symbols that shape our sense of power, history, and belonging. Blending imagination with critique, the exhibition explores cultural myths, colonial legacies, and the forces that construct contemporary life. Timed with the 250th anniversary of the United States, it asks: what kinds of empires do we inherit, and what new ones might rise in their place? The curators and artists will be present at the opening reception.
Artifacts from an Unborn Empire will be on view September 26 - December 31, 2026. For more information and to view the list of artists, visit: BrandLibrary.org/Gallery.
This exhibition is sponsored by the Glendale Arts & Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Fund.
