"Threshold: Between Wilderness and Wonder" transforms the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station into a living sanctuary that evolves from day to night.

This immersive installation transforms the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station into a living sanctuary that evolves from day to night. By day, sculptural elements—a human figure amid tree silhouettes, hanging tendrils, and biomorphic cocoons—create a physical forest microcosm inviting contemplation of our place within natural systems. The work suggests humans are complex organisms within larger ecological networks, our bodies functioning as cells in the environmental body.

As twilight falls on select nights, the installation undergoes a metamorphosis. Digital projections illuminate the sculptures, transforming static forms into dynamic canvases that reveal overlooked beauty in our relationship with nature.

Threshold offers a dual invitation: by day, to recognize our biological interconnectedness with all living things; by night, to witness how light reveals extraordinary beauty within ordinary forms. It creates a space where viewers can pause, see anew and discover that in both wilderness and wonder, healing can be found.

This temporary art installation is generously sponsored by the Glendale Arts & Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program, and support from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services & Parks, and the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association.
