Hear from Tim Martinez, from the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy, about why California native plants are vital to healthy ecosystems and wildlife and enjoy a hands-on native seed planting activity.
Celebrate California’s natural beauty with this fun, all-ages library workshop focused on native plants! Participants will decorate their own pots and plant California native seeds to nurture at home.
Tim Martinez from Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy will share why native plants are essential to healthy ecosystems — from supporting pollinators to conserving water and thriving in California’s climate. Discover how planting native species can make a positive impact right in your own backyard. Tim is very knowledgeable about our canyon and is the point-person for the Arroyo cleanup right on our Chevy Chase Canyon's "Sycamore Canyon Habitat Preserve" in which they are working to make this corridor more inviting and healthy for wildlife. Restoration tasks can range from removing invasive species, mulching, and more.
Come learn, get creative, get your hands in the soil, and grow something that gives back to our environment.
All supplies included while they last.
This program is coming to life from a partnership between the Chevy Chase Estates Association, the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy, and the Glendale Library, Arts & Culture.
The seed planting portion of this program is sponsored by the Glendale Library, Arts & Culture Trust (GLACT).
