Enjoy a screening of the Tracie Holder and Karen Thorsen film “Joe Papp in Five Acts” in the Brand Library Recital Hall. A moderated discussion will follow.
On Thursday, July 9, at 7:00 PM, the Brand Associates, presents a screening of the Tracie Holder and Karen Thorsen film Joe Papp in Five Acts. In an almost 40-year career, Joe Papp made live theater available to everyone, not just the privileged few. Papp championed the stage as a place where women and minorities could achieve power. He additionally practiced ‘non-traditional’ (interracial) casting, initiated Free Shakespeare in the Park, and created New York’s Public Theater. His influence is alive and well in Los Angeles.
The REEL ART series is free & open to the public. For more information on the Brand Associates, visit: AssociatesOfBrand.org. This screening is presented in partnership with Antaeus Theatre Company..
Reel Art 2026 focuses on the Performing Arts, bringing you stories of creatives who pushed the boundaries of their craft. Screenings will be followed by conversations focusing on the impact each has had on contemporary culture.
