Enjoy a screening of the 2005 documentary “The Chicano Collection / La Colección Chicana” in the Brand Library Recital Hall. A moderated discussion will follow.
On Thursday, September 11, at 7:00 PM, the Brand Associates, presents a screening of the 2005 documentary The Chicano Collection / La Colección Chicana. Following the screening, art journalist Matt Stromberg will moderate a conversation with artists Margaret Garcia and Michael Alvarez, along with art consultant Melissa Richardson Banks, exploring the film's lasting impact on the Los Angeles Chicano art scene.
The 53-minute film features interviews with Cheech Marin and several artists from the groundbreaking Chicano Visions: American Painters on the Verge exhibition, capturing their work and its cultural significance.
