“Jungle" creates a jungle-like environment within the gas station that is colorful and dynamic from all four sides.
Jungle by Annli Tico creates a jungle-like environment within the gas station that is colorful and dynamic from all four sides. The piece is made of lightweight textiles and yarn along with crocheted pieces hung from the ceiling of the gas station.
Tico’s work spans multiple mediums and focuses largely on location, taking special interest in the expansiveness and intricate details of the natural world. Through the use of pattern, repetition, and the abstraction of shape, she attempts to create work that captures the broadness of nature in a way that is playful and inviting to the viewers. Tico often use textiles and found materials to capture the softness and fluidity of nature, as well as its color and vibrancy.
This temporary art installation is generously sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program, and support from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services and Parks, and the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association.
