Art Talk Tuesday is a monthly conversation that invites contemporary artists to discuss their work and the issues surrounding it, followed by a moderated Q&A with artist and writer Jennifer Remenchik. Art Talk Tuesday artists are selected to reflect the diversity of the art scene of the greater Los Angeles area.

Haendel’s work is anchored in producing large, labor-intensive pencil drawings and includes installations, film, and public projects. Haendel views drawings as an undervalued, relatable, and democratic medium and believes they should be highly appreciated for their affordability, lack of pretense, ease of storage, and small carbon footprint. He usually shows his work as groups of drawings in installation form instead of individual works to emphasize their connectivity, like pieces of language. Haendel slows viewers down, challenging them to think about how images shape our conceptions.
